Friends of Laguna Seca’s sole purpose is to provide its long-term, privately funded operating and improvement plan for the Laguna Seca Recreation Area for the next 55 years. Friends will provide the leadership and resources to necessary to restore, revitalize and reinvent Laguna Seca up to the standards found among other tourist and motorsports destinations worldwide for decades to come.

Reimagine the raceway and other amenities
Friends is implementing its plan to rebuild the LSRA complex and establish a new business model. The end result is to return Laguna Seca to its glory days as an international motorsports and tourism destination.
Restoration and repair of grounds and facilities
Friends is addressing the neglect and deferred maintenance issues on the property while simultaneously implementing a fresh, modern management approach.
Community, culture, youth programs, and non-racing tourism
Outdoor activities, food and wine events, cultural showcases, local industries, and varied interests will all be represented in event programming, available outdoor recreation and educational amenities.
Economic engine to benefit all of Monterey County
Friends is leveraging this underutilized community asset to serve as an economic engine benefiting the local economy and the entire community of Monterey County.
Over the span of the Concession Agreement, Friends plans to completely rebuild the entire recreation complex as well as reinvent its business model.
- A $50 million capital improvement plan.
- Establishing a profitable mix of memorable, distinct events that utilize multiple areas of Laguna Seca Recreation Area.
- Creating access for all levels of patronage and income, including a range of viewing options for racing and sports events, from premium corporate hospitality to free fan viewing areas.
- Improving access and facilities for hiking and biking trails, as well as other outdoor activities.
- Provide for STEM and vocational education opportunities to benefit our local youth and inspire the next generation.
- Utilizing raceway rental days for car clubs, racing and driving schools, and educational and technology training courses.
- Creating a premium year-round camping area with desirable amenities that fully leverage our unique destination setting.
- Developing entertainment events and showcases, including concerts, food and wine festivals, and cultural celebrations. Non-racing activities will be developed to create new revenue streams and provide community benefits across diverse interests.
